C.M. Eppes Memorial
Location: Corner of West 5th Street and MemorialThe C.M. Eppes Memorial consists of a relief wall and gateway reminiscent of the C. M. Eppes High School, the only black high school in Greenville, NC that burned down mysteriously in the early 1970's after integration. Brad Spencer, from Reidsville, NC, was the chosen artist, and works in wet bricks that are then fired and assembled by local masons. This was a public art project funded by the City of Greenville, the Pitt County Arts Council through a grant from the NC Arts Council, and the Eppes Alumni. |
